Kom Al-Shoqafa Catacombs:

They are the largest Roman cemetery in Alexandria, constructed at the beginning of the IInd century AD Matching both Roman and Pharaonic arts, they are composed of three floors cut in the rock at a depth of 100 feet.

Mareya Port:

The Mareya port situated on the Lake Mariotis, used to be the main commercial entry to the Nile valley from Pharaonic times to the Greaco Roman era. It’s situated on the Amreya – Borg El Arab road.

Marina ruins - Alamein:

An ancient city dating to the Roman epoch has been discovered in Alamein located directly on the Mediterranean cost.

This newly discovered sight lies a few meters from Marina Alamein touristic city. The discovered city dates back to the third century BC and its roman name was leukasis, which means “ The White Armour“. It used to be an important touristic city for the statesmen in the roman epoch where it throws light on the methods of inhabitation and construction of the north cost and the structure of its population.

It extends to a distance of 2 kms on the cost. The discoveries include large water cisterns whose never found likes anywhere else, also a sewage disposing station, some villas and a building which is thought to be a temple for the Goddess Isis. Also, a number of public cemeteries were discovered - having domes, pillars and lots of rooms containing a large number of mummies found in depths ranging from 7 to 10 ms below the earth’s surface, large number of clay pots, incense altars and some small bowels known by the name of “ The Bowels of Tears“ where the level of tears shed by the visitor of the dead used to express the extent of his devotion. A precious watch was also found, some finely made pots of alabaster together with several architectural elements particularly engraved designs on the ceilings of the discovered villas which express the tradition of the inhabitants of that city.
